Manchester Metropolitan University was the venue for another instalment of the exciting Maths Club. These days are full of energising activities, that appropriately challenge the students and leave them hungry for more.
This time it consisted tasks such as adding and multiplying fractions, looking at area, doing logic puzzles, following a maths trail, observing a maths magic trick and pitting their wits against each other in Target Card games. The nonstop action was punctuated this time with an informative campus tour. What makes these days effective is the variety of tasks and also allowing students to choose activities that will be particularly beneficial to them.
The students learned the importance of carefully reading instructions and understanding task requirements, which are crucially important when undertaking their GCSE question papers. The students work very effectively in teams and really rose to the challenge.
