Our Year 7 Food students enjoyed a fabulous session exploring food from another culture, being treated to a German cookery class. Spätzle was the recipe chosen and with guidance from our expert German cookery tutor. The students loved getting immersed in the session. The recipe was in German and English and the theme of the lesson explored a whole range of traditional German dishes to put into context what they were cooking. Students also did some food tasting of German dishes.
By the end of the lesson the students had made pasta out of flour, eggs and salt, boiled the pasta using a special pasta press called a Spätzle Schwob and explored how to serve it.
It was a fantastic experience for all those who took part and it was a privilege to be able to put this on for our students.
