The Year 9 Gateway trip provided a chance to participate in a wide variety of exciting activities. From classifying mythical beasts, looking at proteins in a session on the machinery of the cell to focusing on the appalling social conditions suffered by many in the industrial revolution in Manchester.
The Gateway sessions feature support from trained University of Manchester Ambassadors and are a chance to find out from them what studying at a university is like.
Each session, taught by a university tutor, is designed to give students an insight into that particular area. They are always interactive, getting students exchanging ideas and reflecting on what they have learned and its importance.
Our students were able to consider their future and what their career path holds for them substantially more informed.
