Working at The BBC

Virtual webinars give our students amazing insights into careers and the Working at the BBC session was a fantastic event. Our media students observed three BBC Employees.

Chris O’Rouke is from from The Lab. This team visits schools and colleges teaching young people digital skills. Chris spoke of the importance of teamwork and having transferable skills. He stressed the importance of keeping an open mind regarding your career pathway.

Yogesh Joshi is the Senior Location Engineer, Newsgathering. This department brings live news from whatever is happening all over the world. He showed the amazing location work that the BBC has done such as Royal visits and contacts with Tim Peake. There is the pressure of deadlines but that is superb job satisfaction.

Eva Runciman is a Production Apprentice. Eva was able to give us fascinating insights regarding being an Apprentice. She said that if you find something that you love you’ll never ‘work’ a day in your life.

So be flexible, open to looking at new possibilities, value teamwork and get practical experience!
