Whole School Reading

Here at The Derby High School reading is an integral part of our day to day practice. We provide many opportunities to encourage reading for pleasure and to support our students in becoming expert readers in all of their subjects. On this page you will find a range of support to help with reading, and an outline of some of our whole school initiatives.

Please find below a selection of short stories which have been read aloud by members of staff in school. Click the audio file first, then click the corresponding extract and read along with your teachers!

Listen to audio below

Please find here a video for parents and carers on how you can support your child with their reading at home.

In this section you will find a range of recommended texts to compliment your studies in school. These will support the curriculum you follow in each subject and many of them can be found in the school library.
